Race Proceeds

The first annual Run for Rigby in 2005 raised over $8000. The bulk of the proceeds were directed toward helping to establish the Daniel H. Rigby Memorial Scholarship at Dan's high school, Bergen Catholic in New Jersey. The scholarship will help students at Bergen Catholic move on to college, and is focused on students who have excelled in Mock Trial, one of Dan's passions in high school and college.

Additional proceeds have been devoted toward efforts to promote fire safety in off-campus housing at Georgetown University. This is part of a continuing effort to make sure that all students live in safe homes. We help to coordinate DCRA housing inspections, provide literature for students to know what to look for when renting a house or apartment, and serve as a resource for anyone who would be interested in having fellow students check out their house if they are uncomfortable with having city inspectors or university officials do the job. Other proposed projects include purchasing fire extinguishers and smoke detectors for off-campus students. If you would like to get involved in these fire safety awareness efforts, please write to us at RunForRigby2010@gmail.com.
