About Dan Rigby

Daniel RigbyDaniel Rigby had the ability to make you feel at home whenever he was around.

Dan made the most of his time at Georgetown. The first thing he did upon arriving as a freshman in Fall 2001 was join the Georgetown Rugby squad. To him rugby wasn’t just a sport – it was an experience that changed his life. He made some of his closest friends while playing rugby. In the spring of both his freshman and sophomore years, Dan chose to spend his Spring Break in West Virginia, sleeping on a church floor and doing community service. This was the type of man he was. Danny was also an influential member of the Business Fraternity, Mother Teresa’s Hoyas, and Mock Trial - an activity he participated in since high school.

When asked about his plans after college he said, “It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing. The only thing that matters is who you are with. When you have friends such as mine that is all you will need and everything else will fall into place.”

Dan’s life was taken tragically on October 17, 2004, in a housefire in Georgetown. This race will honor his memory and help further the cause of student safety.
